Celtic Oysters

Oysters are the ocean's answer to a multivitamin. They are an amazing source of vitamin B12, as well as key minerals such as copper, iodine and selenium. However, they are most known for being the number one food source of zinc, which is vital for immune function, metabolism, wound healing, taste, smell and hormonal health. See below for a deeper dive into the beneficial nutrients within oysters. We sustainably harvest our Celtic Oysters from clear, unpolluted waters off the southern and western seaboard of Ireland and gently freeze dry them to maintain their fragile nutrients. We then encapsulate them for your convenience and to remove the taste. Each jar contains 120 300mg capsules (30 - 60 day supply).

* Note - our batches of Celtic Oysters contain 120 as opposed to 150 capsules due to sourcing oysters with higher micronutrient levels. Therefore despite there being less capsules, you will still receive roughly the same amount of micronutrients per serving / per bottle. There's always going to be a slight variation due to the nature of food supplements but we get it as close as possible.

About the product

Celtic Oysters

Oysters are one of the top foods in the world when it comes to nutrient density. They’re packed with bioavailable vitamins, minerals, amino acids and essential fatty acids. Being the number one food source of zinc, and also high in healthy cholesterol, they can be beneficial for both male and female hormonal health. In men these nutrients can help in the production of free testosterone, whereas in women zinc aids in the creation of FSH which leads to ovulation and progesterone production. Vitamin B12 plays a key role in methylation and is the nutrient of energy. Copper is required for red blood cell creation, which transports oxygen around the body. Selenium is vital for immunity and metabolic function. The list of possible benefits of these nutrients is long so we’ve just covered some of the key ones here. Interestingly copper, selenium and zinc work in tandem to prevent sagging skin. This is just one example of why it’s so important to get your nutrients from whole food sources. When consumed in this way, they come in a format and ratio your body understands, topping up your levels to enable you to function optimally, without upsetting the delicate nutrient ratios within your body.

FAQs Questions

Will taking your supplements break a fast?

If you are doing a water fast with zero calories, then they will break the fast, as a serving contains a very small amount of calories. However, if your fasting goals are autophagy or healing your gut microbiome, you can take the supplements without negatively impacting those goals.

How do you ensure all the beneficial nutrients are maintained?

We gently freeze dry raw oysters soured from clean unpolluted waters to maintain as many of the fragile nutrients found within them.

How many raw oysters do you use to create one jar of capsules?

We use roughly 540g of raw oyster meat to make one jar of capsules.

How large are the capsules / can they be opened and sprinkled into food?

The capsules are a medium size and we haven’t come across anyone so far that’s said they’re too big to swallow. However, if you would prefer to open them and add them to bone broth or other dishes this is absolutely fine.

Where / how do you source your oysters?

Our oysters are sourced from various location all along the southern and western seaboard of Ireland. All the areas are shellfish designated waters that are monitored weekly for bio toxins and bacteria to ensure public safety. We use the species Crassostrea gigas, which come from oyster aquaculture. They are grown on frames intertidally and they feed naturally from phytoplankton in the seawater. No chemicals used in the production unlike intense agriculture on land and being sessile organisms, they don’t have the need to roam. They are quite happy to sit there filtering away hence the phase, ‘the patience of an oyster’. In terms of animal farming, oyster husbandry is  as sustainable, environmentally friendly and humane as possible.

Are your oysters effected by sea water pollution?

In a word, no... the sea off the coast of Ireland from which our shellfish are sourced are designated waters that are monitored weekly for bio toxins and bacteria to ensure public safety.
