This all depends upon your goals. The beef protein works primarily to support muscle health, aids exercise recovery and muscle building, as well as helping to increase your protein intake through the day. The protein does naturally contain collagen, so you'll be getting the benefits of collagen within it (such as supporting skin, hair, joints, nails and gut health). 

The collagen is purely 100% hydrolysed collagen, so it gives you a more concentrated dose to support skin, hair, nails and gut health, and may be a little more convenient to mix into your morning coffee without altering the taste at all. So essentially, it all depends upon your needs. Traditionally, we would have eaten a diet really high in collagen which is not common in the modern world today - on that basis, taking both of the products at different times of day or even together helps mimic our ancestral nutrient intake to support optimal nutrition. This is something we do personally.

Our Beef Protein contains naturally high levels of glycine, which is a powerful anti-inflammatory amino acid. Many people also have issues digesting dairy protein, which can cause an inflammatory reaction in the body. By including these amino acids and being dairy-free, our Beef Protein can help to both prevent and lower inflammation. 

Lots of people struggle to digest whey and plant based proteins for a variety of reasons and as a result, these end up sitting in the stomach causing bloating and inflammation. Beef protein is non-inflammatory so this issue doesn’t occur. In addition beef protein is a great source of collagen and gelatine to support connective tissue (tendons, ligaments and joints) as well as hair, skin and nails. Whilst also containing a wide array of micronutrients such as vitamins B6, B9 and B12 as well as the minerals Zinc, Selenium and Iron to help with a variety of bodily processes and general wellbeing.

Balances blood sugar, increases energy, improves mental clarity, supports sleep, aids fertility, hormone balance, healthy ageing, immune health, decreases inflammation, improves body composition and reduces cravings. We source our beef protein from KRAV certified farms in Sweden. These are not only organic (meaning no artificial fertilisers or un-natural pesticides) but follow strict rules to increase biodiversity, work in harmony with the ecosystem around them to reduce climate impact, care for their animals and provide great working conditions for their colleagues.

Examples include;

• Instead of using synthetic fertilisers, they use manure from their own farms to fertilise the soil.
• They use preventative methods such as varied crop rotation to protect against pests so they don’t have to use un-natural pesticides.
• The animals are kept outdoors for as much of the year as weather conditions allow.

The cows spend as much time outdoors as weather conditions allow eating a natural diet of grass and plant life. When the weather gets too cold they’re brought into barns, which have plenty of room, natural light and are really well maintained. During this time they’re mainly fed on hay and silage (grass and other plants that have been cut, dried and stored) as well as some KRAV approved organic supplementary feed like barley. 

You get 19.26 grams of protein per serving. 

Complete protein refers to the fact that beef protein contains all 9 essential amino acids that we need to consume from our diet to build protein within the body. This is not the case for plant based proteins like pea or soy, which are incomplete proteins. This means you need to pair them with other foods to get all 9 essential amino acids and build protein within the body. 

We take grass-fed and regeneratively farmed beef bones and the meat left on them after the butcher cuts have been taken and boil them into a broth before drying it into a protein and collagen rich powder. It's that simple. 

We understand whey protein has been popular for a long time, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best option, certainly not for everyone. Having naturally high levels of collagen within the protein also provides the added benefits of supporting joint health, skin, and gut health, which are all essential if you want to support your training and stay active, and collagen is actually really important for the body’s ability to digest and properly absorb protein, as it supports stomach acid, strengthens the stomach lining, supports a healthier gut microbiome, and aids smoother digestion of protein overall. 

We’ve had so much feedback from customers saying how much of a game changer the beef protein has been not just in terms of supporting muscle mass, but also when it comes to less bloating and much better digestion. After all, if you can’t digest whey protein, it’s not going to be much help and can actually make things worse by causing inflammation.

If beef is processed into protein powder within 7 days, it is generally considered to be lower in histamine. The regenerative farms we work with keep the beef stored in a cold environment (under 7 degrees celsius) for a maximum of 2-3 days before turning it into a powdered form. This limits the amount of histamine that is likely to build up in the protein powder. If you are particularly sensitive to histamine or have histamine intolerance issues or MCAS, we recommend checking with a healthcare professional or nutritional therapist before trying a new protein powder.

Due to the rich levels of naturally occurring collagen and gelatine within the protein powder, these ingredients can make for a slightly thicker texture when left to stand in liquid. Collagen and gelatine are highly beneficial for gut health, skin, joints, bones, hair, skin and nails, so what you’re seeing is essentially proof that the protein powder contains these beneficial ingredients naturally. If consumed immediately, the protein does not form this texture, but if the liquid is left to soak overnight (especially if refrigerated) the texture may become thicker - this is something many customers tell us they actually love about it, and something we enjoy too. 

We’d recommend choosing our original Unflavoured Beef Protein, and if you’re looking to support gut healing or ‘leaky gut’, this is best paired with our Collagen powder or Colostrum powder too, as this can help support gut tissue integrity and may help reduce inflammation. The transforming growth factors within colostrum have been shown to heal the gut, which in turn supports digestion, immunity, neurotransmitter production and detoxification.

As with all of our products, we wanted to keep things as natural as possible. We know a lot of people want a protein powder with a sweet taste, so we chose a natural sweetener - Organic Maple Sugar -  that contains minerals such as manganese, zinc, calcium, potassium, iron and magnesium, as well as antioxidants. There is also some research showing that stevia may inhibit an enzyme responsible for breaking down cortisol in the body. Studies have found a significant increase in salivary and urinary cortisol levels after consuming stevia, alongside an increase in the ratio of cortisol/cortisone. A small but significant increase in blood pressure has also been found following consumption of stevia. 

Our Madagascan Vanilla and Raw Cacao & Maple Sea Salt protein powders contain 5.7g and 3.9g of sugar per serving respectively. To put that into perspective, an average apple contains around 10g.

As it’s made from dairy, whey protein naturally has a sweet, light taste profile. Beef protein tends to have a richer, deeper and almost ‘toasted’ flavour to it, which we personally love. Initially, the taste can be surprising if you are used to consuming whey protein, but it’s a great example of how you don’t have to consume dairy in order to get a high quality source of protein with completely natural ingredients.
