The Dangers of Ozempic & How To Boost Your GLP-1 Naturally
Posted by Anna Wechsel onWhen world-class athletes take a GLP-1 drug, you know something is wrong… if you haven’t heard, Serena Williams is taking a GLP-1 weight loss jab(basically a different brand of Ozempic), and her latest ad on social media sends a dangerous message to women and new mothers. In the ad on social media, she says how “after kids, it’s the medicine my body needed”, helping her to lose 31lb.
What Serena forgot to mention though, is that her husband is an investor in the company Ro, who have made GLP-1 weight loss jabs a major part of their offerings. She also didn’t mention how she’s been a fan of vegan junk food for years, and is even an investor herself in the fake meat company Impossible Food, along with Bill Gates…
Whilst we’re aware that Serena Williams has a family history of diabetes, which contributed to her decision to take the weight loss jab, that’s not the message being touted over social media. The message we’re hearing is; want to lose weight after kids? Forget about your diet and lifestyle, use a (potentially dangerous) weight loss jab.
Of course, it’s completely Serena’s choice as to what she does with her body, and we’re not here to cast shame on anyone who chooses to take a GLP-1 drug for necessary medical reasons. The real problem is that these drugs have serious side effects which many people are completely unaware of until it’s too late. The seriousness of a weight loss jab is often underplayed just because they’re popular today, but if you knew the side effects of them, you might think twice. Consider just a few very common side effects:
- Nausea (often constant)
- Diarrhoea
- Vomiting
- Damage to the retina of the eye (including sudden blindness)
- Dangerously high or low blood sugar
- Muscle atrophy (including the heart muscle)
And these are just the known side effects SO FAR... remember, this isn't a product that has gone through rigorous testing or something that has been around long enough to understand the greater impacts it may have...unlike the natural food sources below.
Nature’s Ozempic
Your body knows how to regulate its own appetite. It knows how to stabilise blood sugar and remain at a healthy weight… the problem is that the typical Western diet does very little to support healthy weight loss.
Thankfully, if you want to boost your own GLP-1 production to support healthy weight management and blood sugar (without a dangerous weight loss jab), there are simple ways to do it….
And it starts with your nutrition.
Top 5 foods to support GLP-1 production:
Lean meat: Yep, forget vegan snacks and fake meat; lean meats like lean cuts of grass-fed beef, chicken, and game such as venison can all increase GLP-1 levels. Meat improves GLP-1 because its proteins, peptides, and amino acids directly stimulate enteroendocrine cells in the gut to release Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 (GLP-1). Our Grass Fed Beef Protein is rich in these specific nutrients and amino acids that help regulate appetite, blood sugar and support your GLP-1 levels.
Eggs: One of nature’s most complete and satiating foods, eggs’ high protein and healthy fat content stimulate the release of GLP-1, promoting feelings of fullness and satisfaction, and helping manage blood glucose levels. Egg whites, in particular, have been identified as beneficial for GLP-1 secretion.
Colostrum: As well as supporting your gut health and immunity, colostrum is a key food- based supplement to aid GLP-1 production, as well as balancing other hormones that regulate blood sugar and appetite and improve liver health. Our Grass Fed Colostrum is sustainably sourced and can be mixed into cold drinks or taken straight from the spoon.
Collagen: When you add a scoop of our Grass Fed Collagen to your morning coffee, do you notice how much more satisfied and balanced you feel for the next few hours? The research shows this is largely because collagen naturally supports the body’s GLP-1 production, as well as promoting balanced blood sugar after meals, and a greater feeling of fullness. Our Grass Fed Collagen is hydrolysed, meaning it’s easier to digest and absorb, and is the type of collagen shown to have the most benefit for GLP-1 production.
Avocado: High fibre foods promote GLP-1 production by feeding gut bacteria with nutrients they can break down into short chain fatty acids (SCFAs). These SCFAs then stimulate specialised cells in the gut to release GLP-1. Being high in fibre, avocado also has the benefit of being high in monounsaturated fats, which stimulate GLP-1 production.
With all the noise around weight loss and GLP-1 right now, the nutrition and ‘health’ world can be difficult to navigate. Our mission is to help you make informed decisions that will truly benefit your health, to help you reconnect to your body’s wisdom and support you in taking sovereignty over your wellbeing.
