Beef Brain

Our beef brain is a fantastic way to support your own brain health, as well as mood and focus. Key nutrients include DHA - an omega 3 fatty acid, BDNF which is associated with the growth and protection of neurons, choline, b vitamins, copper, and phospholipids like phosphatidylserine and sphingomyelin, which are important for brain cell structure and function. 

According to the US Department of Agriculture's Food Database, Beef Brain contains 1.24g's (77% of the RDA) of Omega-3 and 0.86g's (428% of the RDA) of DHA per 100 grams. 

We use roughly 15 grams of organs to create one serving of capsules so, with 10 grams coming from Brain and the other 5 grams coming from Liver. Therefore the estimated amount of Omega-3 per serving is 0.124 grams (7.7% of the RDA) and 0.086 grams of DHA (42.8% of the RDA).

Prions disease has never been reported in the country from which we source our Beef Brain and an active surveillance programme for this disease has been in operation since 1990 (which involves testing brain samples). All animals are inspected pre and post slaughter, and there are multiple spots along the chain where a problem would be identified. The World Health Organisation for animal health (OIE) has classified the country as a “negligible prions disease risk” country, which is the best classification a country can be given.

It doesn't include the pituitary, but it does contain the hypothalamus and pineal gland. 

Yes! We certainly recommend stacking products together to obtain maximum benefit if you don’t already consume organ meats in your regular diet. Beef brain works well alongside all other products. Some of our favourite combinations are:

 When it comes to animal foods, the organic logo can be a bit of a smokescreen. Technically an animal can be classed as organic if they’re fed on unnatural but organic feed such as cereals or soy. We believe it’s best that animals, like humans, should be eating the foods they have throughout the vast majority of history before the food industry started introducing unnatural foods that are causing disease in modern society.

To this effect, we believe cattle should be eating grass and in addition to this should be living outdoors for as much of the year as weather conditions allow.

For this reason, we only use the organs from cattle that are free to roam on pastures. This means that our cattle eat a natural diet of grass, wildflowers and herbs and are kept outdoors for as long as possible. If they do have to be brought inside due to poor weather, they are fed preserved pasture. That said, the farm the cattle are from is also certified organic and therefore uses no pesticides, herbicides, antibiotics or hormones.

All of the capsules containing beef organs are made from beef gelatine.

If you are doing a water fast with zero calories, then they will break the fast, as a serving contains a very small amount of calories. However, if your fasting goals are autophagy or healing your gut microbiome, you can take the supplements without negatively impacting those goals.

The capsules are a medium size and we haven’t come across anyone so far that’s said they’re too big to swallow. However, if you would prefer to open them and add them to bone broth or other dishes this is absolutely fine.

It takes roughly 15g of raw beef organs to create 6 capsules. Weston A Price and other leading nutritions in this field like Chris Masterjohn recommend consuming around 170-225g of beef liver per week. Our capsules will cover 90g of this split out on a daily basis to ensure the key micronutrients they provide are continuously circulating in your system. We recommend consuming one portion of organ meat (around 80-135g) on top of this per week.
