Processed Fake Meat & Heart Disease

Posted by Josh Gape on

So a new study is saying “plant-based ultra-processed foods are linked to heart disease”.

Shocking hey? 🙄

In recent years, greedy companies and big players have marketed highly processed plant-based alternatives as “better for your health and the health of the planet”.

*cough* Gates *cough*

This is both sad and disturbing.

In our experience, the every day plant-based advocate has good intentions.

Like most of us, they just want to improve their health, help the planet, and minimise animal suffering.

The problem is, eating this way (especially when pseudo foods are involved) doesn’t fulfil any of those goals. That’s a whole other topic though…

And although these big organisations know this, they keep it under wraps and instead choose the FASTEST path to money.
It’s much easier to sell people what they already want instead of SHIFTING their beliefs.

It’s easier to manufacture a fake meat burger that conveniently fits into a vegan's lifestyle than it is to alter their worldview.

And this isn’t us knocking plants or plant-based diets.

Everyone has the right to eat what they want, meat or not.

The real problem is this:

When you ultra-process ANYTHING, it’s going to have damaging effects on human health.

Meat-eaters were victims of this “fake health food” trend way before vegans.

Hotdogs...

“Beef” burgers..
.
Nitrate-riddled bacon…

Aka. processed meats cut with harmful artificial ingredients to make them cheaper, more palatable and extend shelf life.

Doesn’t sound all that different from ultra-processed plant foods now, does it?

So if you ask us, whenever a study like this comes out, it shouldn’t be celebrated as a “victory” for the pro-meat gang…

Cause what this study really highlights is that neither meat nor plants are the problem.

The processing is.

A homemade bean burger is NOT the same as a Beyond Burger.

A grass-fed beef burger is NOT the same as a Tesco Patty with rapeseed oil and preservatives.

So the real “beef” should be with the big corporations who take advantage of our desire for nutritious foods and sell us fake versions of them filled with 💩
